Annie Oakley needs Entropion surgery!

Hello! My name is Abby, and I am creating this fundraiser for Leo and Annie, his new 16-month-old foster dog. On July 16th, Leo took in this foster dog only to learn after her first vet appointment that poor Annie had all three types of ear infections in both ears, and she has a condition called Entropion; this causes her eyelids to have too much skin, and roll inwards which is causing constant eye irritation. In addition, her fur and eyelashes are constantly rubbing on her third eyelid and against her eyeballs; she is always squinting and pawing at her eyes which are also always watery, red, and swollen. Luckily, she has not yet developed ulcers on her eyeballs, but this is something that could happen if this condition is left untreated even longer. The estimates for her double entropion surgery and a spay, done simultaneously to avoid excessive sedation, come to $1,781 - $2,517.
On July 15th, 2022, Leo received a call from his mom asking if he knew anyone that would be able to take home a dog. An acquaintance of Leo’s mom desperately needed to rehome their dog; it was explained that this dog had been well cared for, is a registered emotional support animal, and only required some flea medicine and to be spayed. This family needed to find this dog a home by the next day, or they would drop her off at the pound. Leo could not let this happen to her, so on July 16th, Leo picked up Annie and brought her home, only to find out what he had been told was far from the truth.
A vet appointment was immediately scheduled, Annie was given a bath, and she got new food, a harness, and a toy. Despite very clearly having a double ear infection and something extremely wrong with her eyes, Annie just wanted to be loved on; she is the sweetest and most loving girl. After her first vet appointment, at which she needed all her shots, nails trimmed, bloodwork, fecal sample tested, and ears swabbed, this totaled almost $500, which was a very unexpected cost. (She had very little vet care previously, which was a surprise to us since Leo had been told otherwise). It was determined that poor Annie had all three types of ear infections in both ears that had gone untreated for a very long time, and that she has a condition called Entropion; this causes her eyelids to have too much skin, and roll inwards which is causing constant eye irritation. Luckily, she has not yet developed ulcers on her eyeballs, but this is something that could happen if it is left untreated even longer. The estimates for her double entropion surgery and a spay, done simultaneously, come to $1,781 - $2,517.
Leo couldn’t let this sweet girl end up in a pound and most likely be euthanized due to her conditions. These medical procedures also impair finding her a forever home. Everyone who has met her has fallen in love; she is such a loving, sweet girl. We all want to see little Annie Oakley feeling better and able to see without being in pain. In her 16 months of life, she has only known extreme discomfort, itching her ears until they bleed and rubbing her eyes until she starts whining, yet she still only wants to be loved by everyone and make everyone laugh. This is, of course, a high and unexpected cost for a first-time foster parent; however, it is necessary for Annie to have a quality of life worth living. Any amount would be so appreciated so we can help Annie get these surgeries done as soon as possible!
