Weston's Missions Trip to Tobago!
Dear friends and family,
Hello and Happy New Year to all! I hope this message finds you happy and healthy, settling down after the busy Christmas season. I just started my second semester of grad school and am looking forward to seeing how God moves this spring!
When I first moved to college in
Moorhead, Minnesota, I was very fortunate to quickly become part of Chi Alpha, an
incredible group of college-aged Christians.
Throughout my undergraduate career, my relationship with the Lord grew
immensely through the community that Chi Alpha offered. But when it came time to apply to
graduate school and move somewhere new, I was anxious about leaving such a deep-rooted
unit of believers and starting all over again.
Through the
craziness of applying to various programs, the Lord threw open the door at the
University of Iowa. Not only was one of the top Audiology programs offering an excellent
funding package, one of my pastors and one of my small group leaders from Moorhead
had moved to Iowa City the year prior to plant a Chi Alpha (you may know them as Pastor Tony and Kelly). It seemed like a
grand coincidence, though the more I learn about the nature of God, the less I
believe in coincidence. In Moorhead, I was able to reap the benefits from a
well-established Christian community, and now at Iowa, I am able to be part of
establishing that same community that drew me ever closer to the Lord.
Over spring
break in March, I will be travelling to Tobago with Chi Alpha for a missions
trip. Tobago is a small island in the Caribbean, just off the coast of Venezuela. As an English-speaking nation, Tobago offers
a unique opportunity to spread the Gospel. Through local churches, we will
spend time in hospitals and go door to door as representatives for Christ in
this largely Hindu and Muslim region. I am assured that this trip will stretch
my faith, and in stepping out, I expect to see God move.
I am asking
you, as friends, family, and fellow believers, to pray for the Lord to work
through us and also to prayerfully consider supporting my trip financially. The
trip will cost about $1,650. If you do decide to give financially, please make
checks to Chi Alpha, University of Iowa with my name in the memo line. They can
be sent to 220 Lafayette St. Suite 126, Iowa City, IA 52240. All donations go
directly to offset the cost of my trip and are also tax deductible. If you're tech savvy and want to give online, you're in luck! That's what this very page is for! In the interest of full disclosure, GoFundMe collects a 5% fee of any donation given online.
Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support. You're an incredible blessing!
All the best,
