Wei Ni was a highly recognized ballet dancer and teacher in the RTP area. He began his study of ballet at Shenyang Ballet Academy of China in 1984 and graduated in 1990. During his study period, he participated in many international ballet competitions and won the Gold Award of youth group in Lyon France Ballet Competition. In the same year of graduation, he joined Liao Ning Ballet and became a principal dancer afterwards. In 1993’s China National Wide Ballet Competition, Wei won the second place in actor’s group. He then danced as principal dancer as well in Guangzhou Ballet since 1996.

Wei came to the U.S. to join Tulsa Ballet in Oklahoma as a soloist in 1999 and transferred to Cincinnati Ballet in Ohio in 2001. He also performed as a soloist in Pittsburg Ballet in Pennsylvania from 2002 thru 2003. Wei then settled down in North Carolina as a principal dancer with the Carolina Ballet in Raleigh from 2003 till he retired due to knee injury in 2009.


Wei started his teaching career after retirement from Carolina Ballet .He was Master Teacher and Assistant Director of the North Carolina State Ballet from 2009 thru 2016. He also had danced as principal in the North Carolina State Ballet "Nutcracker" for 7 years. At the same time, Wei was Artistic Director and Choreographer from 2012 thru 2015 in Charlotte Blume Schoold of Dance in Fayeville. He started his own school Wei’s Ballet in 2015 and began to teach both children and adults in RTP area. In the most recent few years, the partnered with Miguel Campaneria in Campaneria Ballet School as a teacher and then a co-owner in 2019 while running his own dance school.

Wei earned high respect and reputation among students and their parents thru endless effort and whole-hearted love to teaching ballet. He was very proud of his students every day for their improvement and achievement in ballet dance. There are a few of his students even went to ballet companies and started their professional career in ballet dancing. Wei participated in community activities frequently by contributing his professionalism in ballet dancing and choreographer. He was known both as a great teacher and person who always tried by all means to help others.
