Squishy Needs More Surgery ❤️‍

UPDATE: Squishy had his first surgery on his mouth to remove some rotting teeth. Unfortunately he is still dealing with a larger problem. They need to do further tests including a liver shunt test and he needs to see a neurologist for possible encephalitis (swelling in his brain) if the liver shunt test is negative and not the cause of his neurological issue.

The tests alone have been quoted to me as another 2k, and if he needs another surgery it’s at least another 3K to correct the ammonia build up. I am still trying to recoup funds from the last surgery as I had to get him in quickly before I could raise all the funds.

If anyone out there can help further, I am dealing with my own serious illness but my healthcare is thankfully free. The stress of Squishy being ill has added a lot to my own illness and I am just trying to get us both to survive and improve the quality of his life.

Hi! I’m Squishy’s mom, Laura. My beautiful son needs surgery on his mouth and insurance is not covering any dental.

He will need to go under anesthesia for the vet to take a look, most likely multiple teeth pulled as well as take care of everything else that’s happening in his gums as they are inflamed and causing him pain. The baby has been very uncomfortable as he waits for me to be able to afford the surgery which doesn’t look like it’ll be any time soon, and the longer we wait the worse it can get.

It has been very stressful to have to watch him be uncomfortable each day and in distress so I am looking to speed up the process with the aid of anyone who can help.

UPDATED: The money will be going to paying for his surgery and other medical costs. I have been given an estimate of $3-5K for the actual surgery but there’s almost $2K in costs of testing and pre/after care that’s come up so even though the goal is 5K I’m trying to prepare for unexpected costs up to 7K.

As a small dog, anesthesia is not totally safe for him so they have to make sure he’s healthy enough to go under. I am told that there may be extra costs that come up while he’s under the knife as they don’t know what exactly he will need until he’s on the table and the cost of tooth removal is charged per tooth.

His chart has him labeled as “extremely wiggly” which hopefully helps express just how cute this dear boy is. Any donation of any amount is welcome and I am so grateful to anyone who has already donated, it’s been overwhelming to get support from not only friends but strangers who care enough to help.
