COVID-19 Food Bank
Tax deductible
Just $25 dollars can feed a family for a whole month
Seemandhra Forum is working with local volunteers in India to provide food packages to those unable to support themselves due to COVID-19. We parcel out staple foods such as Rice, Dal, Wheat flour, Vegetables, Cooking Oil and then distribute them to individuals and families as needed. Our food bank provides packages of food designed to feed a family of 3-4 for an entire month. Members of Sri Gurudeva Charitable Trust distribute these packages in the Vizianagaram district to families that don't have access to the rations provided by the government and are unable to consistently obtain at least a single meal per day. Volunteers in the Krishna district have also partnered with local farmers to buy vegetables at significantly lower costs and distribute the Rice and Vegetables along with bottles of sanitizer and masks to those in need.
Why a food bank?
Due to the country wide lock down, hundreds of thousands of poor families are left without a source of income to support even the most basic of needs. While the Indian government is making an earnest effort to support it’s people, the already large portion of the Indian population stricken with poverty along with the added unemployment makes for a disastrous combination. In this difficult situation, thousands of families who are on the margins of poverty and don’t even have access to government rations are left with no source of income, leaving them struggling to obtain even a single meal per day. In these difficult times it is extremely important to support each other to the best of our abilities. Join us in making a difference, just $25 can feed a family for a whole month.
