Over the past decade, we have taken almost 200 students from Saint Joseph's University and Bridgewater State University to Nicaragua to learn about coffee and the people who grow it. In the process, we have become deeply attached to the wonderful people of Nicaragua's coffeelands.
The Nicaraguan people we have come to love are suffering enormously from the current unrest. The violence that began on April 18 has disrupted access to food, medicine, and work. We are providing funds directly to trusted friends in La Corona and elsewhere in Matagalpa who have in turn been providing relief to their communities.
At this time, direct aid is the only aid we have been able to send and we ask for your help in continuing that support.
