Help lay a great man to rest

Yesterday our father/husband/grandfather/cousin/brother/nephew Ollie J Thomas Jr lost his battle to cancer. My father received his diagnosis in 2014 that he had Prostate Cancer and he had been battling it ever since. Our father served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He was very proud of his military service and we are looking into having him laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery.  Most of the costs for his burial will be covered by Veterans Affairs but we are still responsible for a portion and also the transportation of our father’s body. Our father was well enough to work again by driving trucks across the country, which was a dream of his since he was a child, but that came to an end earlier this year. A tumor was discovered on the base of his spine and hip which made it incredibly painful for him to walk or sit comfortably. He had to hang up his cowboy hat and rest. Unfortunately this early retirement left Gina, his amazing wife, to carry the load and our Dad’s care drained anything they had in savings. We are starting this GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses and anything left over will go to his surviving wife to help her recover financially.

We are a proud family and we are not ones to ask for handouts, but today we need your help. Anyone who knew our father could easily say he was a great man. He was caring, kind, funny and very giving. He was God fearing and prayed for us every night. He loved his wife more than anything and his children were his pride and joy. We lost a monumental man in our lives and we ask that you help us give him the burial that he deserves and help sustain Gina through this hard and trying time.
