Share the Warmth RVA. Homeless Services
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Carol and my husband and myself started this project last year when we saw a group of homeless people sleeping on the steps of an abandoned church during a artic blast with temperatures in the teens. We went home and gathered all the blankets and coats that we had and took them to the people and gave them out. It was dark so we really didn't see their faces but we could tell how much that small jester meant. We made a promise to God and ourselves that we would do more for the people who live on the streets with no place to go. That is were the project began and with your help together we can make a difference. Please help us share the warmth because no one should sleep in the freezing cold.. The money we raise will be used for necessities that makes this outreach possible. Everyone here at Southsides Caring Heats has a burning desire to help homeless individuals no matter what there situation is and no one receives any type of payment for helping. The money we raise is going to used for gas to travel around the city and reach as many people as possible each night, also to cover the cost of washing and drying the blankets and clothes before we hand them out. We prepare meals for them and we use plastic ware, and Styrofoam containers. We need to have an emergency fund to be used in extreme cases of the very elderly and hildren that just can't spend even one night outside when temperatures drop to dangerous levels . We are working on a deal with a few motels for these situations to get a reduced rate.
Thank again you so much for helping us help those who need us the most.
