Anthony Beck

I have set this page up in memory of my lovely grandad to whom many of you will know as Tony.

Earlier this year Tony was devastatingly diagnosed with Motor neurones Disease.
Motor neurone disease (MND) is an uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves. It causes weakness that gets worse over time and eventually imprisons the sufferer within their own body. This cruel debilitating disease can affect anyone of any age.
There's no cure for MND and it can significantly shorten life expectancy and, unfortunately, eventually leads to death. The average person with motor neurone disease has a life expectancy of 2-3 years after diagnosis, but many pass before this time and sadly in Tony’s case, only 3 months after being diagnosed.

Sadly the funding and resources for Motor Neurone Disease are very low, leading to extremely late diagnosis, which means a lack of support for those suffering and the loved ones around them.
Please contribute if you can in Tony’s memory to the MND Association and help to fund trials which could help to treat the disease or better yet cure it!!

I cannot make this post without mentioning St Helena hospice and their amazing care to my grandad in his final weeks. The staff are phenomenal and even managed to help create some happy memories, in a time of darkness! St Helena Hospice is a completely charity funded service!

Donations to St Helena hospice in Tony’s memory would also be greatly appreciated!

Thank you
