Kindness for Katie!
Donation protected
As many of you probably know by now, Katie Mar was rushed to Rideout hospital Tuesday evening by ambulance and then life-flighted to Mercy San Juan Hospital, where she underwent immediate surgery for a brain bleed. Unfortunately, yesterday evening, 10/1, Katie's blood pressure, cranial pressure and heart rate continued to rise, resulting in an urgency to release the pressure. After Tim and Gina spoke with the doctor, Katie underwent another procedure to help release the pressure. The surgery required a large portion of her right skull to be removed, allowing her swollen brain to expand and help relieve the swelling. The surgery was a success, and Katie returned to ICU critical but stable.
You might wonder why I named this fundraiser "Kindness for Katie"? Well, that's an easy question to answer, and if you know Katie or even any of the Mars then you already know that answer. Katie is one of the most thoughtful young ladies you could ever possibly have the pleasure of meeting. She is very kind, outgoing and loving. What I love best about Katie is her smile. It is infectious. As for her family, they are right there with her. One of the most giving families I have ever had the pleasure to meet. They are often first on the scene to help and last to leave when others are in need. You often find their family at fundraisers helping those make the best of a tough situation or chipping in their time to help events be more successful. They are a family of givers, so I am asking you, our beautiful community, to consider supporting in any way you can. When I last left the hospital, I asked Gina if there was anything we could do, and she said, "PRAY!" I figure we could do both. So, let us come together, lift them all up in prayer and give what we can to make this critical time a little easier.
Thank you!
