Dawn Ballantyne Memorial College Fd

On Friday January 8, 2016 Dawn Ballantyne passed away very unexpectedly along with her beloved father, Bill Blakely. Dawn was an exceptional wife, mother, and well known church and community activist. As those who have posted the hundreds of Facebook postings can attest, she shared her love and talents unsparingly and made a huge impact on everyone she met. Her sudden passing was devastating to her husband, Bob, and two children, Blake, age 19 and Isabelle, age 17.

Dawn was the first in her family to ever graduate from college and always instilled in her kids the same strong desire to pursue a higher education. Unfortunately, her sudden death has placed in jeopardy Blake’s ability to return to Iona College next week, where he is a Business major and a member of Iona’s Division I Varsity Water Polo team.

Isabelle is in her junior year at Lake Nona High School where she is an outstanding student, a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.3 GPA, and a 3 year member of both the Lake Nona Varsity Swim team and the 2015 State Finalist Girls’ Water Polo team.

Sadly, Isabelle’s college dreams now also face financial uncertainty. The family is hoping that you will prayerfully consider contributing to the special fund that they are establishing in Dawn’s name to help them afford the cost of her beloved children’s higher education.

Beyond that, it is the family’s strong desire for this funding program to continue to develop over time into a recurring scholarship opportunity for future deserving high school students and as a memorial to Dawn.

Our thanks and our blessings to the hundreds of people who have already expressed their love and special memories of Dawn and helped us so much through this difficult time with prayer, meals, and companionship,

Dawn’s special gift was to make everyone she ever knew and ever met feel special and loved. All those who knew her can rest a bit easier in the certainty that she and her father and brother are safe in Jesus’ loving arms…. …and probably redecorating Heaven and planning a celebration for the rest of us upon our arrival!
