Our family has been devastated by a series of catastrophes. My medications failed last December and I ended up in the hospital, out of work for a month. Then my income was ruined when the new drug laws went into effect (I sell pharma wholesale), leaving me with less than $1000 a month, sometimes less, because we work on commissions. I haven't been able to recover from this loss, and now we're underwater.
Steve has been trying his hardest - starting his own business, trying to get customers, but can't seem to make any headway. He was able to bring in just enough each month to keep us from having anything turned off or losing our home, but the last three months he hasn't been able to find any new customers. He had a job at a grocery store before, but was injured - he got a hernia. The grocery store fired him and we couldn't find an attorney because we have no money. No money, no rights. How is that right?
Add to that, Steve can't work in his own field - intelligence - because his ex wife and the First Sergeant she was cheating on him with destroyed his career. He had a top secret security clearance or something like that, but when his ex made a bunch of false accusations DOD took it away. He got out and got an honorable discharge and benefits, but couldn't get his job back or find work and didn't know why until 2015 when he got his concealed pistol license. The First Sergeant set Steve up and had him investigated for some horrible stuff, to make sure he was ruined. It didn't work but Army CID put "ARRESTED FOR" in Steve's FBI file and NEVER TOLD HIM, so any time he tried to pass a background check it looked like he was hiding stuff.
So now that the FBI file is in local police information Steve can't even pass a simple background check. He hasn't been able to find work for three years now. I have watched him try and try, and apply to job after job, but get nothing, and it just hurts my heart so much, but he has never given up. All he wants to do is take care of our family - his daughter, me, and our two stupid dogs.
All our bills are behind at least a month now. Everything. Phone, electric, heat, and rent. We got a court notice this morning for eviction. So we have no choice but to ask for help, or we will be homeless by Christmas.
