Jonny's Lyme fight

My name is Jonny Mead. I am 26 years old and I have Lyme disease. I have had Lyme for six years, but I was only diagnosed this year after my symptoms got so bad that I was unable to guide fishermen on the Rogue River in Southern Oregon, which is how I made my living. One day a few months ago, on the river, my arms locked up and I was unable to row or steer my boat – and that was the last trip I guided, after I took my clients ashore halfway through the morning. I have joint and muscle pain all the time. My stomach, arms, and legs, twitch violently, I often get lost and disoriented, and my ability to concentrate has declined. I have severe headaches, drenching night sweats, and am unable to sleep more than a couple of hours. These symptoms occur every day with no reprieve. Lyme disease is a very lonely and isolating disease because sufferers often do not “look” sick. Hardest of all, I am losing my independence.

My body and brain have become infested with the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi along with two co-infections (Bartonella and Babesia) caused by the tick bite. Unfortunately, Lyme disease is poorly understood by the medical community and there is little agreement about how to treat it. Thus, insurance companies don’t pay for the treatments. Here in the United States the typical treatment for Lyme involves copious amounts of antibiotics, which cost my family upwards of $1000-$1,500 every month. I am also allergic to the antibiotics and I am not getting better.

There is hope, however, because in Germany they have been treating Lyme disease successfully with ozone therapy. This therapy kills bacteria and viruses, and the Germans have been using it for 60 years to battle Lyme and many other diseases. Ozone therapy consists of an oxidation process wherein the toxins from the Lyme are broken down into carbon dioxide and water, which are easily eliminated from the body. Ozone therapy also stimulates white and red blood cells, and it blasts holes in the bacteria, yeast, and viruses, killing the Lyme disease.  

Lyme disease is becoming an epidemic in Oregon, particularly in the Shady Cove area where I live. I have now met several local people who have been through the ozone treatments. They have come back to the US Lyme free and they are heroes to me. They are an inspiration because they dared to go to a foreign country where they didn’t speak the language to take a cure they did not know much about. I am fortunate: I have the benefit of their experience.

I am scheduled to start ozone therapy on January 11th 2016. It is expensive (but not nearly as expensive as years and years of questionable treatments with antibiotics).  I need to raise about $25,000, because I have to go for 12 weeks, at least. So, I am asking for your help. Every bit helps – I am collecting spare change in jars at local businesses – and it does add up. So, anything you could contribute would be significant.
