Team Durden #makeajoyfulnoise
Donation protected
"We love because He first loved us" is a verse in the Bible, and Carl Durden has given his life to serving others around him. He has never done it for the money or even the thanks. He continually sacrifices his time, energy, money and talents to serve other people because that is what Christ has done for us.
Carl is a pastor of Crossroads Fellowship Church where he is never more than a phone call or text away from any of his congregants who need him, no matter what day or time. He is also the Music teacher at Hillcrest Elementary where he takes the time to meet the needs of his students even if it is outside of school hours. He is an extremely devoted Christian, husband, father and friend to all he meets.
Now Carl is fighting CANCER. It came as quite a surprise in April while having bladder stones removed and one was found to contain cancer. It is a rare form of cancer called small cell, and it is extremely aggressive. His treatments needed to start immediately in order to make sure that it did not spread to his brain or other major organs.
Carl's treatment plan includes four intense rounds of chemo, followed by surgery. He and his wife Cindy, who is a kindergarten teacher, have already spent the summer traveling back and forth from Mid-county to MD Anderson in Houston. He is very grateful for the doctors and advances in medicine there, but MD Anderson is very expensive. The cost of the medical treatments, not counting the gas and high parking fees, is beginning to add up. When Carl goes in for his chemo treatments he is required to stay at MD Anderson for 4-5 days straight each time. Insurance has helped with some of the expenses, but the new insurance year is starting over next month leaving the remainder of chemo, surgery and all other medical expenses to be out of pocket.
This is your chance to help Carl and Cindy in their fight together against cancer. Any amount you would care to donate to help this amazing couple is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please keep them in your prayers.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
This verse is so true of Carl Durden as even though he is going through the rough time himself, he has not stopped his desire to help and comfort those he finds in need.
