Hi there, my name is Hannah Clayton and this GoFundme is to gather money to help search efforts with a reward for finding my father-in-law Joe Clayton Sweeney alive. He has been missing since August 20th. He is such a kind and caring soul and we just want to bring him home safely. He is a father, brother, son, and beloved friend. Missing Persons Alert

The Juneau Police Department has issued the following press release regarding missing person, Joseph Clayton. As of 08/23/21, Mr. Clayton has not been located. Please see the press release for details.

The Juneau Police Department is attempting to locate 48-year-old Joseph Clayton. He was last seen around 7:30 AM on 8/20/21, leaving his father’s residence for a hike. His car was found at the Auke Lake boat launch.

Mr. Clayton is not from Juneau, nor is he familiar with Juneau or the trail systems. It is believed he was alone when he went missing

Mr. Clayton, who goes by the name “Joe”, is a white male, 6’2” tall and weighs about 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a t-shirt and jeans, carrying a light colored backpack. A recent photo of Joe Clayton is attached.

If anyone sees Mr. Clayton, or has information on his whereabouts, please contact the Juneau Police Department.

A Silver Alert has been activated through the State of Alaska and search efforts are underway.

Silver Alert is a voluntary partnership between law enforcement agencies, state and local government, and Alaska’s media and broadcasters to alert the public when a vulnerable adult is missing and believed to be in serious danger.

The system uses media and broadcast releases, email, social media, and the State’s transportation 511 system to distribute a description of the missing adult.
