“Home is where the heart is” has never resonated more!

Last Monday morning, my mom, Shirley Batiste, lost her home, her heart and all of its contents in a fiery blaze. We are eternally grateful that she is safe and was able to get out alive.

However, there was absolutely no time to grab anything else. No eyeglasses, no purse, no photos and nothing could be salvaged from the ashes. So, everything my mom owned is GONE! With the exception of the pajamas she had on her back.

As you can imagine our hearts are just broken. And it’s been especially difficult to watch mom try to process the sheer magnitude and devastation of losing in a matter of minutes all of her worldly possessions, car included. She is doing fine physically but has mentally blocked out details in order to cope. Mom has a long road ahead and with time and your prayers we know she will be restored.

Many of you far and wide have asked how you may help. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness, kindness and consideration. To manage this outpouring of support and mom’s vast needs we have started this page on her behalf. Any donation, in-kind or otherwise, to help mom move forward is much appreciated.
