Support For Luke McWilliams

At approximately 9:30 PM on November 19th, I received the alarming news that my little brother, Luke McWilliams, was being life-flighted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston’s hospital. All we knew at the moment was that Luke was in critical condition with both legs crushed and severe vascular damage to his femoral artery. While waiting through his initial surgery, we discovered a car lost control and went through a garage, trapping Luke under a parked van in the garage, and pinning his friend Braden Stevenson between the car and the wall. After seven hours of surgery, at just 12 years old, he now has a plate from his hip to his knee, pins in both knees, a halo to hold his tibia and femur together, and 41 units worth of blood transfusions due to the significant amount he lost. Luke has multiple surgeries set in place over the next couple of weeks, one being on Thanksgiving day, along with several months of rehabilition before he is even able to walk again. My prayers go out to the Stevenson family as well while they deal with this tragic loss. Thank you for all of the concern and support already given as the Stevenson family work towards compensating for this unpredictable moment. His medical expenses are multiplying faster than we ever could have expected and our single mother won't be able to work to pay off these bills and be available to give him the continuous care he's going to need.
