Kansas City Dreamin'

Hello,

My name is Diallo Javonne French.  I'm a filmmaker and music photographer based in Kansas City.  A few years ago I produced and directed a short film called KANSAS CITY DREAMIN'.  The film is about the African American musical history of the city.  I'm currently making that short into a full length film.  The feature length version will dive much deeper into the city's history.  Covering jazz, soul, and hip hop.  Exploring Kansas City's roll in the evolution of American music.

I'm applying for the Lavine/Ken Burns Prize this year.  First place award is $200,000, second place is $50,000, and third -fourth place is $25,000.  Any of these prizes will greatly help my production efforts.

This gofundme campaign is to raise money for travel and production cost before I can submit my film for the grant.  The submission deadline is May 1, 2020.

This has been a passion project of mine for several years.  I spend most of my weekends photographing musicians around town.  Documenting the music scene for generations to come.  This film will be a great way to celebrate Kansas City and it's effect on American music.
