World NGO Day! Helping A Young Nonprofit
Help WORC get to Finland!
On February 27 & 28th, 2014, representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) across the world will come together in Helsinki, Finland to honor World NGO Day.
First established in 2010, this global and annual initiative is a volunteer effort of UNESCO, the Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization of the United Nations. World NGO Day seeks
to celebrate, commemorate and connect all non-governmental or non-profit organizations, with the ultimate aim of driving change through the work and power of innovative NGOs.
This year's event, in Scandinavia, is a platform for NGO leaders, supporters, philanthropists and mentors to exchange ideas and encourage collaboration with peers. Addressing the theme of
"˜Opportunities for a new generation of NGOs,' delegates will explore how they can engage new audiences and entrepreneurs, raising awareness about the work of NGOs at local, national and
international levels.
In September of 2013, Worldwide Orphanage Relief Coalition (WORC) became one of World NGO Day's newest partners when Matthew Manning (WORC's founder and CEO) was asked to join as one of six Goodwill Ambassadors in the United States.
Now, in an incredible honor, WORC has been invited to attend and participate in this year's global event. As a young Minneapolis and Chicago-based non-profit, we will have the opportunity to represent the Midwest and the youth voice on an international platform "“ allying with NGOs from all over the world.
WORC's vision is to promote a self-empowered world, enabled by the elevated prosperity of its brilliant, resilient youth "“ allowing kids to be kids. With this opportunity, we are stepping closer
towards that goal. We are humbled by the invitation, and we hope to make this opportunity a reality. We are grateful for any and all support you are able to provide, and we thank you for your time.
