Lance's Autism Service Dog
Donation protected
Hello friends & family!
Lance just turned 5 years old on December 24, 2013 and has been thriving in his early intervention, speech and communication but, we still have many more obstacles to overcome. He will live with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) for the rest of his life but, I strive to make his world more tolerable and understandable for him to relate. As an overly, concerned mother and his voice when he cannot speak to the world; I am always searching new ways for Lance's needs to be met. After researching service dogs, I believe that the companion and guidance of a Autism service dog will offer Lance the chance to be independent but, with boundaries.
As of today, 10/03/2014, we submitted our contract to Remedy Retrievers, Inc. to start the long process of getting Lance his very own Autism Service Dog. The dog will serve to be his companion, as well as to protect him from self-harming, guide him from wandering off, re-direct his behavior when he has sensory overload and comfort him with love when he is navigating through this world.
We are asking for you to help us on his journey with getting one of these specially trained dogs for Lance. An organization in northern California called Remedy Retrievers, Inc. breeds and trains these dogs specifically for people living with Autism and with various disabilities. Remedy Retrievers is a Northern California 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit corporation founded by Caleb and Toby Anderson. The cost to train these dogs is very expensive. They train these dogs from when they are puppies to assist people of all ages who are challenged with living on the spectrum (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. We are responsible for $16,500 of the cost to reserve a ASD-K9 for Lance.
We are asking family, friends and anyone with a heart to please help us raise funds and reach our goal. The process can take up to a 12 to 18 months and even longer but, we are hoping to reserve his dog as soon as possible.
At the beginning of the year when I started this fundraiser for Lance, he did not have to words to thank you but, now he does. Every little step is moving him in the right direction. I believe that this ASD-K9 will give him the confidence and security and independence to overcome more obstacles and reach new goals. We are both very thankful for your generosity and kindness. Lance is such a beautiful child and he has so much to offer the world. We just have to open his mind and allow him to blossom and I truly believe that this Autism Service dog will be a God send and a light on his journey.
On behalf of Lance, thank you so very much!
With Love,
Nikki Almeida
