The Burning of Kingston Wire

UPDATE: We asked, and you delivered! Look what just happened – We reached out to all of you, our dear readers and subscribers, and thanks to nearly 100 local donors, we have raised a whopping $30,462 toward our goal.
Two big donations — which we are especially thankful for — gave us a huge leap, now we just need a little bit more. We know we can make up the final $738 with your help.
Thank you from your Kingston Wire team!

UPDATE: Exciting news! As more and more community members support our GoFundMe, we're getting closer to our goal. When we reach $20,000, a generous reader and patron (who wishes to remain anonymous) has pledged an incredible gift of $10,000, to get us over the finish line! We are full of gratitude for everyone who has donated — but we still need your help to get us a little further in securing our future. Thank you for donating, and for supporting local, independent journalism!

Kingston Wire needs your help now more than ever.
After the sudden withdrawal of support from Radio Kingston, Kingston Wire finds itself with a revenue loss of over $30,000 - 1/3 of our operating budget. This puts us in a most challenging position.
Kingston Wire depends entirely on subscriptions, some advertising, and partnerships for content, such as what we had with Radio Kingston. As many know, the local news business has been squeezed for decades, but we have found a strong interest in local independent news coverage in Kingston and Ulster. And despite the recent setback, Kingston Wire's first year in business has been phenomenal, with a new office in midtown, over 5,000 registered users, a dozen regular columnists, deep journalistic dives on numerous local news stories, and much more - including some exciting plans for the future.
Will you help us by donating what you can? Help us to continue to do what we do best - bring you interesting, important, newsworthy stories and coverage of Kingston with experienced independent journalists, different and interesting opinion pieces, and stories that highlight the dynamic city of Kingston. Your support will help us to continue to hold truth to power and cover local news with the integrity, passion, and balance we think everyone deserves.
