One Year Anniversary Fundraiser

The 1st June 2023 will forever be in my thoughts. From standing as an umpire to being rushed to hospital is a total blink. Then all I can remember is waking up in a hospital bed not knowing what happened to me or having any time frame of what day it was or how long I was there for.

Twenty one days in ICU in the Royal Victoria Hospital, three major brain surgery's inside 7 days and having a burst aneurysm in my brain.

My first memory is having Tracey and my three children, Cristin, Donnacha and Lorcan beside my bed in ICU.

Not being fit to walk, eat or wash. Life changing memories.

Looking back now eleven months later , it's incredible how I have improved. God was certainly on my side. Being moved to the Brain Injury Unit at Musgrave Hospital played a pivotal role in my rehabilitation.

Getting home after 50 days was special and the friendship shown by my family was just amazing. All my friends played a role in my rehab. You are special people. I know I'm lucky but I am thankful.

This is just a small token to say thank you to both the ICU at the Royal and the Brain Injury Unit Clinic at Musgrave. I will be forever grateful.

I aim to walk 50 miles in memory of the 50 days I spent in hospital. June the 1st will see a 5km at Castledawson GAA pitch where I collapsed on the same date a year ago. It will be a special day surrounded by people who have helped me so much over the past months.

One person is paramount to this story, my wife Tracey. Thank you ❤️
