Medical bills and other expenses

My name is John Poss. I recently became a below the knee (BKA) amputee. I have worked in radiology for over 40 years. I became a type 1 diabetic as an 11 year old and a kidney recipient in 2018. On January 19, 2023 I worked my regular shift at the hospital and began experiencing pain and swelling in my left leg. I was admitted that afternoon with an infection in the lower portion of my leg. After three weeks in the hospital I was discharged with antibiotics and was readmitted just two weeks later with the same symptoms.
Two surgerys were performed to try and save my leg but the infection progressed into my heal bone and set up gangrene. This left the doctors with no choice but to amputate my leg on March 25, 2023. I was discharged from the hospital to an inpatient rehab facility for two weeks to prepare for life without my left leg.
On April 30, 2023 my insurace company notified me that my coverage had ended due to my inability to return to work. Since my insurance has ended I am having to pay out of pocket for all medications and doctor bills. I have been going to an outpatient rehab center in hopes of getting a prosthesis in the next four weeks however this recent letter from insurance has put this goal in doubt. Even if I am approved for disability, I would not be eligible for Medicare coverage until 2025.
We have spent a lot of money making renevations to accomidate a wheel chair and still have a lot that needs to be done. Thank you to anyone who donates no matter the amount. Please share this GoFundMe campaign on all of your social media accounts even if you were unable to help financially. Thank you.
UPDATE: I have now received my prosthetic leg but still have a long road of extensive therapy ahead of me. I sincerely appreciate all thoughts and prayers and any donations you are able to make to help with medical expenses. Please like and share.
