Help Neon Calypso Through Recovery
Donation protected
Thank you to all for helping me reach my initial goal The link will stay active as I don’t know how recovery will look until the procedure happens.
I appreciate all the love and help that I’ve received over the past couple of months in regards to my health and medical condition. I’ve always been afraid to ask for help and I’ve always tried to take things on individually, but these past few months have fully consumed me. Back in December, I injured myself during a performance. Upon consulting with doctors, we believed I had hernia and scheduled for me to meet with a surgeon. After meeting with the surgeon in January, he came to the conclusion that the injury was not a hernia and what I was experiencing was probably just muscle pain that I had been feeling due to performances. Knowing what my body was capable of and not being able to do tricks and dance moves I’ve been doing for years, I asked if I could get an MRI to make sure that nothing was wrong. The MRI results showed that I had a blood clot in my right leg blocking blood flow back up to my heart. The surgeon told me that this looked as though it was chronic, meaning that I’ve had it lodged in my vein for quite some time and that we had to do more testing to make sure I had no more blood clots in my body. After 5 months of blood testing and MRI scans, my surgery has officially been set for May 29th. I will be in the hospital for 3 days after the procedure, then home recovering. I don’t know how long my recovery is and sadly, I’ve had to cancel all my gigs and work shift until further notice. Back in January, Jessica Leigh French and Nathanael Bluhm organized a fundraiser at Hip-Hop Saturdays and we were able to raise $600 when I originally thought I was getting the surgery. That as well as other donations I have received have been set a side to help me through recovery, but unfortunately this only covers some of the cost of my recovery. I’ve created this fundraiser link as I am unaware of when I will be able to work again and I want to give myself the time I need in order to fully recover from this surgery. Donations will go to living expenses like food, travel, medications, appointments with specialists, and medical bills.
