Cambodian School Building Project

Hope for a New and Improved School
Hi! My name is Tom Kong and my family is part of a group that is raising money in order to build a new school near my father's home village of Ta Pho located in the Banteay Meanchey Province of Cambodia. The school services 7 villages in the surrounding area and includes students from elementary through high school age.
The existing school building has been torn down and is currently being replaced by an 8-classroom schoolhouse that will also include bathrooms. The total cost of the project is $65,000 and each of 10 families in our group have already donated $2,000 each. As a group there are various ongoing fundraising events that aim to cover the remaining costs of building the school.
Please consider donating to help in the continued building process of the school.
Thank you all for taking the time to visit my page and for your consideration and help in the success of this project!
Here is a picture of my father leading a planning meeting about the project in front of the 1-room school that is being replaced
The inside of the previously existing classroom
The wooden beams were so badly deteriorating that it was becoming increasingly unsafe to hold class in the building
Our welcome at the groundbreaking ceremony held recently on Christmas Day 2013
Giving the blessing to begin the project
Myself and my niece being given a warm welcome to the ceremony. It was a very humbling experience
Some of the current students who are very grateful and excited for their new school
