Hi my name is Crystal. I’m not sure how to even start writing something like this. I didn’t want to write this for so long. For months I have been wanting to create a GoFundMe for my father Jose, but I couldn’t. I mean listen, I’m 37 years old and my dad has taken care of me my whole childhood with no help. I thought that I should now be able to do the same. Life has a way of humbling you really quickly. April 18, 2021 is a day in my life that I wish I didn’t remember as detailed as I do. It was the day that my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. If you have a loved one with a diagnosis of cancer, then you understand the rollercoaster that my father, me and my family have been through. Everyday that he is here, he fights. My dad wants to live more than anything. He wants to make sure that my mom is ok. So, every day he fights to live another day. October 12, 2021 he was re-admitted to the hospital again. One of the many hospitalizations that he has faced. This time around was different. We were told there was no cure, and nothing more the doctors could do for my dad. The doctors said what I have not wanted to hear, and now we are in hospice. Now, it’s time for him to transition. But, how can we do that comfortably? He’s worried for my mom; he’s worried about the bills and the many expenses that have been made. Well, that’s when I said, “life has humbled me.” I decided to start this GoFundMe. I want him to know that my mom will be able to take care of the expenses and not have to worry about another thing. So many years he took care of me, and now my job as his daughter is to take care of him. Also, to take care of the woman that for 38 years has been his rock. I started this GoFundMe to make my dad’s dreams a reality. This is me being strong and asking for help, because sometimes to be strong means asking for help from others.
