Teaching English in Africa
Donation protected
Hello everyone!
I am currently a junior at Bowling Green State University majoring in Middle Childhood Education. I've always wanted the chance to study abroad for a semester but never was able to because of time and money. I am so determined to do something and make a difference while I am young and have the freedom, so I looked into a volunteer organization program. I just got accepted in the Ghana, Africa program to teach English for two weeks this coming May 15th and I could not be more excited about it! I finally found the right time to do it and I don't want money to hold me back. I have a job at school and the summer but it is not enough money to send me on this trip. I calculated almost the exact amount to cover the program fee, registration fee, the visa, the flights, travel insurance, vaccinations and criminal background check. I am so passionate about kids and wanting to make a difference and I think I can start my journey here! I think this trip will open my eyes to what underdeveloped countries' education programs are like and I want to one day make a difference concerning education in places like Ghana. I am asking for any kind of donation through gofundme.com if you would be so kind! Thank you so much, as this means the world to me. This is my dream.
According to the IVHQ (International Volunteer HQ):https://www.volunteerhq.org/volunteer-in-ghana
"Although Ghana is an English-speaking country, many school children cannot communicate effectively in the English language. This is common in both rural and urban areas of Ghana and there is a real need for volunteers to assist in communities with a shortage of teaching staff. The Teaching project in Ghana seeks to stimulate the interest of school children in studying and speaking English, while simultaneously offering international volunteers the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the Ghanaian culture and education system."
Thank you all!
