Zemira Milagro Aguilar

Our little angel, Zemira was born on January 10, 2019 at 7:32 PM at St. Joseph's Hospital. She weighed 3 lbs. 1 oz. and 16 inches long. This is her story.Her name is Zemira Milagro Aguilar, given to her after we were told that she had a rare condition called, Trisomy 18. She is our little Miracle. This condition is known to cause severe developmental delays due to an extra chromosome 18. We now know that she has this in every one of her cells. So far, Zemira has survived pregnancy and her delivery. Now she is surviving at the hospital in the NIC Unit with complications that require full time support. Zemira has struggled with breathing, a low platelet count that continues to stabilize little by little, a hole in one of her chambers in her heart, and two valves in her heart that are not working well. With her condition, surgery is not an option. At this point, what we can do is make things comfortable for her. We want to bring her home and spend whatever time God gives us. We just have to wait for Zemira to be able to keep her temperature out from the incubator. As soon as she can, home hospice for babies will come out to help us. She may live a couple of days, weeks, or months, we don’t know and neither do the doctors.Zemira has six loving siblings, four brothers and two sister’s who await her homecoming while spending precious moments at her bedside with her.
