Mr. Carter

I am Lorrie Short, and I have the pleasure of working with Mr. Carter and proudly call him my friend.

I recently found out our great friend, teacher and mentor, Mr. Carter is having some serious health issues. He has used up all of his sick days going to doctors’ appointments and hospital stays. He is in need of urgent surgery but at this point, if he doesn’t work, he does not get paid. His medical bills are accumulating and he’s not getting paid when he’s not at work. This is why we are trying to raise money so that Mr. Carter can take the time off of work to get his needed surgery without having to worry about bills.

Mr. Carter is a beloved substitute teacher at Meade High. He is a friend and a mentor to the students. He believes in every student and encourages them daily to be their very best. If you know Mr. Carter, consider yourself lucky. I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones.

I met Mr. Carter in March of 2021 when school re-opened for in-person learning after the pandemic. I was assigned to monitor the auditorium at Meade HS. The auditorium was where students assembled when their teachers had not yet returned to school. One day Mr. Carter came down to the auditorium with his students just so that I could have a lunch break and use the restroom. What a kind thing to do. I was so impressed with how much he cared for the students. We became fast friends that day. He had my back and I had his.
