The ongoing story! On May 25th I go for colon resection surgery. I will be off work for 6 weeks but only in the hospital for 3 or 4 days! This year has been hard for us! 6 weeks of radiation and chemo treatments in the fall, brain surgery in December and now colon surgery at the end of May! As much support I get from work, friends and family, we are having trouble making Ends meet! I have a 2001 Ford Escape for sale in great condition but does need a brake job! Any reasonable offer good! Financial help is appreciated! thank you all! My Name is Marty Walsh! Two months ago I found out that I have stage 3 lung cancer and also colon cancer. During my diagnosis the doctors also believed I had brain cancer. Luckily, it was found out that they are AVMS (Arterial Vascular Malformations) which are serious enough on their own, but can be treated at a later time. Also the colon treatment can be delayed until after the lung treatment which I will be starting at the Vancouver Island Cancer center on Aug 17th/2015. I will be doing both Chemo and Radiation 5 days per week and coming home to Campbell River ( a 3 Hour journey) on weekends. Thanks to the Cancer support system I will be able to shuttle to Victoria on Monday mornings and return home Friday afternoons. While I am in Victoria I will be staying in the BC Cancer Lodge . Although this costs $55. per night, they do provide 3 healthy meals per day and a shuttle back and forth to the cancer clinic.
A little history about myself: I have lived with my disabled partner for 30 years. (June 6 1985) and we have managed to remain independent between his monthly income of $1086 and my income as a retail worker. In 1986-87 I was the 25th elected Emperor of the gay community in Vancouver, BC and during our year, my Empress and I raised thousands of dollars for various charities including breast cancer and various aids foundations. After the passing of my beloved Empress, we decided to leave Vancouver and I became employed with the Home Depot. After 3 years with the company in Abbotsford, we decided I would take a transfer to help open the Home Depot in Campbell River, the store which has supported me immensley throughout this scary time in our lives.
At this time it is very hard for my partner and I to make ends meet and this is why I am asking for support, so that we may remain independent and proud. Thank You, With all my heart. Marty
