Clara’s Support Dog

Hello, this is Clara. Clara is 6 years old and suffers from an extremely rare, undiagnosed liver disease. Clara has been on medication to alleviate her extreme itching since she was 17 months old and the medications are beginning to lessen in their effectiveness. Nights are especially difficult because she just lays in bed thinking about how miserable she feels, over the last few months, she’s been getting about 7 hours of broken up sleep a night, and sometimes she wakes up covered in blood because she still scratches in her sleep. She causes a lot of damage to herself and is unable to stop herself once she begins scratching. This is Chester, he is a miracle pup. We have borrowed him for 2 nights and the difference in Clara is incredible. He is able to put deep pressure on her legs, arms or belly depending on how frantic she is, and it helps her to calm down enough to sleep and concentrate on things like school work. The only problem is that Chester is $15,000. Our plan is to have the same trainer find Clara a puppy who is well suited to her, and train it for 6-8 months in order for it to help Clara and still be (reasonably) affordable. We would appreciate your help in getting my girl the help she needs, because without sleep, her life can be very traumatic. We appreciate all of you! Clara’s mom, Natalie
