PRESERVING BOWMAN’S VALLEY SCHOOL
Help Breathe New Life In to This Historic Bullitt County, KY Landmark
The Bowman’s Valley School, founded in 1916, is the last remaining intact African-American school house in the area. This all wood structure is an important part of Bullitt County’s history and needs immediate repairs to survive another winter.
Be a part of history as the school house is relocated and restored for a new educational mission in the 21st century.
Campaign Details:
• Move Bowman Valley School from Cooper Run Road three miles north to where the old Woodsdale School sits along Hwy 44 in Shepherdsville, KY
• Install new roof, doors and windows
• Repair and renovate Interior structure
• Paint exterior and interior walls
• Create an interactive educational program detailing the history of Bowman Valley School and African American education in Bullitt County, KY
• Launch a vocational training program partnering with the Woodsdale School facility
• Establish a maintenance fund for the future
The all-volunteer team’s goal is to raise $100,000 to complete the entire project.
