We invite you to contribute to a fund to try to prolong CIndy's life...and enrich its quality. Tiny donations are welcome. Details below...
With metastatic cancer, the game is “what’s next?” When her chemo plus targeted therapy regimen stopped working, we were thrilled beyond measure that she got into this immunotherapy clinical trial. But if and when it is decided that this doesn’t work or has stopped working or has intolerable side effects, the next options aren’t so good… BUT…..
We are in hot pursuit of something better. My brother Andy’s partner Beatrice is a cancer researcher at Cedars Sinai, an MD/PhD researcher. She told me about an associate who had a company which takes living cells from tumor tissue, grows them, and tests hundreds of drugs, in a combination of live and computer simulated work. The upshot is a report giving oncologists information on drugs which will (and will not be effective –not against colon cancer, but against Cindy’s tumor. (Company is SEngine Precision Medicine, tests are PARIS, if you are interested.)
I have read a great deal and am fascinated. The chair of their board is a Nobel prize winner, Biden’s Cancer Initiative has written about them, etc. Their founder talked by phone with Cindy’s beloved Dr. Davis, and we all have fingers crossed. Cindy had a biopsy Tuesday, and tissue was overnighted to them. We hope to hear more in a few weeks.
The cost is $9000, not covered by insurance. If you would like to make a donation of any size, we would be most appreciative. We have received several donations—if we exceed the $9000, the balance will pay for travel for Cindy and Taylor, who are thriving on seeing a lot of each other. And always…we are grateful for you, for your interest and love and support.
