Greg Hollinshed’s Cancer Fight

**Update below**
Hi! My name is Marion I am the mother of Greg’s partner Ally.
3 weeks ago, Greg and Ally’s life turned a corner they never considered it would!
After eating a meal out in Adelaide Greg started suffering from severe stomach pains, having been suffering a slight cold at the time they put it down to part of the illness, until a few days passed and the pain didn’t go away, Greg finally sought medical advice.
6 days later after the doctors believed Greg needed to have his gall bladder removed they did a CT scan to confirm. What was confirmed was definitely not what was suspected.
Greg was diagnosed with a perforated bowel which was cause by a tumor, there were also spots on his liver visible on the scan. Greg was admitted to whyalla hospital for multiple antibiotics and monitoring for sepsis.
2 days later when the pain had subsided another CT was ordered, which also saw spots on his lungs.
Fast forward another few days Greg was booked for surgery to perform a colectomy and also provide Greg a colostomy.
Whilst in for surgery they also found that the tumor had attached itself to part of his small bowel which also needed to be removed.
Greg is now facing an extended unspecified period of unpaid time off work, medical appointments, expenses and cancer therapies.
We are hoping with this page to help ease the financial burden on Greg and Ally during this already stressful time.
We all hope you can show your support in anyway you might be able xx
****UPDATE****
Greg finally had an appointment with the oncologist in Whyalla today.
Official diagnosis…Stage 4 Bowel Cancer
He will start chemo on Wednesday 7th august.
Chemo will consist of a cocktail of drugs that will take 4+hrs, followed by another two days of therapy through his port at home.
This will continue ever 2wks for the rest of his life.
He will first need to have day surgery on the 5th to install a port in his chest for the home therapy to be administered.
It is unlikely that this will cure his cancer, it will just be a treatment to hopefully shrink them and prolong his life, but we will see how everything responds and continue to hope for a miracle.
Given the ongoing treatment it is also unlikely that Greg will be able to return to work, adding further stress to an already desperate situation.
