Keep Us In Our Home

Hi, everyone. My name is Katrina and I'm here to ask for your help. Let me start with a little bit of back story...

About 14.5 years ago, my boys and I moved into our home. At the time I had no idea that I wanted it to be my forever home. Then, about 17 months ago, the furnace in our house stopped working and needed to be completely replaced. At that point, the landlords decided that they wanted to sell the house. After a lot of discussion and attempts for me to get government funding to purchase the house, they agreed to rent the house to us for another two years as long as we purchased the house at the end of the two years. The two years is up May 1st and I'm nowhere near having the necessary funds. The why is pretty simple.

When we made the agreement, my business was doing well. I work as a freelance editor and proofreader. Then, things died down. On top of that, I've spent most of the past year sick. I had RSV and then, just when I was feeling better, I came down with a mystery illness. It acted like the RSV, but after two months, it didn't go away. I went to urgent care and they told me it was pneumonia. I took all of the high powered antibiotics and steroids, but it still hasn't gone away. In fact, I have a cat scan scheduled for next month.

Then, as if that wasn't enough, I was in a car accident in January. It left me shaken up and the insurance company chose to total my car. In fact, I was without a car for almost two months because I had very little savings and then had to use my tax return money to go towards the new (to me) car. Every penny that I had planned to use towards the house was gone.

Since then, I have taken every spare penny that I get and I've put it into my savings to go towards the house. I don't go out to eat. I don't buy extra things. Guys, I'm scared. If I don't come up with this money, I could end up homeless with my cats and my kids wouldn't have a place to go to. My oldest son is special needs and relies on me to get him places and to take him to specialist appointments. He worries about the house and this adds stress to him that I wish I could take away.

So, if you can, please help us to stay in our home. Every penny raised goes towards that goal.
