Help with Leo's Surgery

Donation protected
Hey everyone, my name is Shea. Single dog dad to two rotties named Nella and Leo. Nella just turned 3 years old and Leo is about 2.5 years old. Leo has been diagnosed with what they assume to be a Chylothorax (Chylothorax is a rare but serious condition in which lymph formed in the digestive system (chyle) accumulates in your chest cavity.) Basically what happens to Leo is so much fluid builds up in his chest cavity that it compresses his lungs and makes it extremely difficult to breathe and if it's not drained from his chest, can be fatal. We've been doing test after test to figure out what is causing this and the bills keep piling in and I will not be able to keep pursuing treatment if payments aren't made.

6/21/22 - I noticed Leo was having difficulty breathing so I kept an eye on him to see if it was going to get better or worse.

6/22/22 - Leo's breathing had gotten much worse so I brought him to the ER. They traiged him as critical when I brought him in. They did bloodwork, x-rays, chest tapped him and drained 1.5L of fluid from his chest and ran several diagnostic test. I picked him up 24 hours later and was told to keep an eye on him and wait for test results to come back.

The test that they ran came back inconclusive so the next step they suggested was an echocardiagram which I scheduled on 6/27/22 (today), but I noticed Leo's breathing drastically decrease after just 24 hours of being home. I monitored him and his breathing continued to get worse so I brought him back to the ER just 36 hours after being discharged.

6/25/22 - Leo is admitted back into the ER in critical condition. They tap his chest again and drain another 1.5L of fluid from his chest. He is discharged about 12 hours later on the morning of 6/26/22 and the DR is able to get me to the top of the list for an echocardiogram at 530am on 6/27.

6/27/22 - Leo is dropped off at 530am where he is able to get his echocardiogram done. The DR calls me around 1030am this morning stating that the echo came back clean and we have now ruled out heart issues.

The next step the DR is recommending is a CT scan to see if there is some type of cancer or mass that is causing this to happen. The estimated cost of the CT scan alone is $2k. Leo is currently in the ER as I type on 6/27 @ 1pm waiting to see if they can get him in for a CT today.

After the CT scan, the next step for Leo is surgery. The surgery will be to remove any mass that the CT scan shows that may be causing this or to surgically correct the thoracic duct which is causing the chylothorax, the condition he's been diagnosed with. The success rate for the correction of this diagnosis is fairly decent with a 50-100% success rate after surgery.

Leo is a happy, healthy pup with lots of life still to live. Each time i've brought him home from the ER he is still trying to play ball, get me to pet him, or playing with his toys; even though he's barely able to breathe. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and I cannot thank everyone enough!
