Shannon's Recovery

Donation protected

Our co-worker and her family were devastated by a horrific tragedy on April 9, 2017.  This day, left five children praying that their parents would survive and wondering what they would do next.  We have all been praying for the healing of this family ever since......

Our Sweet Shannon 37 and Ferdinand Duplanteir 47 kissed their kids goodbye and took off on their motorcycle like many times before from Cleburne, TX to Georgetown to visit Shannon's mother for her birthday.  On the way back, at approx 2:45pm a brown chevy truck in Hillsboro pulled into their lane clipping their front tire.  Their motorcycle lost control and sent them both into the air and onto the pavement.  The brown truck never stopped.  They had to be LifeFlighted to Ft Worth, both came in listed as critical condition in ICU Ferdinand was placed on life support and the news for the family was not good.  He was not expected to recover.  Shannon was in critical condition as well covered in road rash,  skull exposed in the back of her head,  right leg fracture on a scale of 1-6 was 6+ with several fractures below the right knee.  She was swollen all over and couldn't have surgery to put rods in her leg until the swelling went down.  Best case scenerio, several surgeries and 8 months of rehab before she has any hope of a Dr releasing her to return to work,  which is heartbreaking for a mother of five who loves her kids dearly and would do anything for them.  Ferdinand, did come off the respirator and did so without brain damage which answered the prayers of his family, but he too has a long road ahead.  Also covered in road rash, his right ankle was crushed,  instead of amputation, they are tryng to save the ankle with so far two surgeries that took bone from his hip and relocated to his ankle along with rods to stabilize, he has at least two surgeries to go, he lost the tips of two fingers on the right hand which have been reattached, everyone is hoping this is successful. He also has a cast on his left hand due to broken bones.... he will require many months of rehab after his last surgery as well, before he is able to return to work.  We know this time will be very difficult for this proud family, but we ask you to help them keep their family and home together and allow them to heal ....  I speak for Shannon and her family when i say "THANK YOU" for your prayers and support.
