Louise's medical fund

Donation protected
I am creating this GoFund me account to raise money to help with my friends medical fees.

Her name is Louise and she is 32 years old single mother.

Last June Louise had a stroke and lost most of her sight and the full use of her left side. It was a dreadful time for Louise, her daughter, family and friends, but she was very brave, strong and full of determination. She worked hard at physio and gradually improved.

The stroke happened due to smoking and being on the contraceptive pill. She was suffering with migraines for a year before the stroke, and woke up on the morning of the stroke with another migraine, shooting pain behind her right eye and her left side went freezing cold. She tried to go back to bed thinking it was just another migraine and collapsed on the kitchen floor with no movement at all on the left side and her vision had almost gone. Luckily she had her mobile phone in her right pocket and called 999, which saved her life.

Strokes don't always happen the way they say it does, Louise didn't have any drooping of her face or slurred speech.

6 weeks after the stroke she had another medical problem that was related to the stroke which in turn set her back; learning how to stand, walk, get up the stairs, getting dressed, bathing etc., the kind of thing we all do on a daily basis that we take for granted.

The set back however caused her left arm and hand to constantly spasm and be out of control. It is incredibly painful and tiring.

Since last June Louise has worked incredibly hard to get better for herself but mainly her daughter Alisha.

Alisha has found this change in her life incredibly hard to deal with. On the day of that stroke she lost her mummy as she was, and is fighting very hard to stay strong to help her mummy become herself again, so she can do all the things she used to with her. It's very hard to watch this from the outside, as I know how desperately Lu just wants to be able to give her daughter a proper hug and make her a sandwich. It's the small simple things that a parent should be able to do that she can't and it's upsetting to watch and not be able to help.

Louise has improved dramatically with regular constant physio; everyone around her is so amazed at her progress and strong will. I for one have a great deal of admiration for her as a person, mother and friend.

She is still receiving physio and attending regular check ups and every day is a step toward becoming well and her old self again.

The one thing that isn't getting better is the arm and hand spasms which are constant and with no rest.

Louise was referred again and again to help to find the cause and solution. She tried all kinds of medication to help but they were unsuccessful. A diagnosis was finally made and a treatment found. The waiting list for this treatment is months.

I decided enough was enough; my friend has suffered far too long. Lu describes living with this as unbearable and every day feels like an entire year. I don't want her to wait any longer; so I did some research into private treatment. I found a hospital and specialist doctor to do the treatment which Louise was made up with and was very excited when I told her the consultant could see her next week and do the treatment the following week.

The cost for the consultation is £160 and the treatment will be on going, as regular injections are needed.

Louise cannot afford this treatment on her own being a single disabled parent; and as excited as she was to be able to find a treatment quicker than she has been offered she just doesn't have the funding. Then I suggested a GoFund me page to see if we could raise the money needed to help her on her road to recovery.

All Louise wants to do is get her life back, be able to make a sandwich for her daughter and to be pain free.

At the moment she hates leaving the house because the spasms are so bad she hits people and she can’t even butter a piece of bread.

This treatment can change all that.

Thank you for taking you time to read this and thank you to any contribution made.

P.s progress report to follow :)

Louise would like to thank you for taking the time to read her story and wants people to be aware of how dangerous being on the pill and smoking can be. If reading this she has helped to save one person going through what she has had to in the last 10 months then that that’s enough for her, donation or not. If you have donated as well then she is extremely grateful for your kindness and generosity.

Lets help Alisha get her Mummy back.
