Hi all,
Hi, I would like to take a moment to introduce you to Erika and Mike.... who are at this very moment, fighting the fight of their lives. Yes, their lives , but first, let me introduce you to my bff's .
I met Erika at conductor school in Wilmington, DE over 5 years ago. She was funny, smart, charming, pretty, vivacious and outgoing. She made me feel as if I had known her my entire life and she genuinely cared and listened to my heart. We soon became fast friends. After our successful class graduation, we headed to our respective duty locations. Mine was LAX and hers was San Diego. Not long after, she introduced me to the new man in her life, Mike. She confided to me that Mike was the love of her life and once I met him, I understood exactly what they felt in their hearts and souls for each other. Theirs was a love that was tireless and was for eternity. I was so thrilled that finally, my bff had met someone who loved her unconditionally and without end. She deserved this more than anyone I had ever met. The things she had endured in the past should never take place in a person's life, but she shrugged those past events off as if they didnt matter. She surely showed no effects from them as she forged her way into her new life she had built for herself. I was thrilled once they married and knew they were set for life. They lived healthy, active lifestyles in southern California, but oh, it was such a short time, before Erika came to me and confided she had Triple Negative breast cancer and it had spread to her lymph nodes. Surgery was quick, and chemo and radiation followed. Her body was scarred, but her spirit never faultered. Mike stood beside her and held and guided her as only a true love can. Shortly after, we were devastated to hear the news that sweet, courageous, loveable Mike had tumors on his liver and pancreas. A double whammy to the couple who had been married barely a year and had waited almost half a century to experience their love!! Erika cannot work as she is still recovering from the recent trauma of chemo and radiation. Mike is recovering from the surgery he just had which was to inject him surgically with chemo to the targeted tumor areas. He worked until last week.
Friends, neighbors, family, co-workers and anyone else whom this story touches, I am asking for your prayers, love, support or whatever else you can offer to this family. They have a mortgage on a simple house located in San Diego county. They also surround themselves with their furry family members who also need food and support. I beseech you all to open your wallets and see if you can afford $5 or even $500 to help this couple in need. They are a couple who would help a stranger on the corner (and they have). They helped me when I was going throught my treatments at Scripps in Torrey Pines. They are just a basic hard-working couple who have never asked for anything from anyone. Erika doesn't even eat meat, and Mike rarely does. Erika makes me take a bug outside and set it free if I find it in my house. She and Mike love and adore all living things. I pray that you will help them live, also. I am asking for help on their behalf. If you know me, you know how much baring my soul and sharing Mike and Erika with you matters to me.
