As many of you know Rob Pate suffered a heart attack a week ago, but thought he was suffering from a bad case of the flu. On Wednesday, Rob walked into St Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV where it was discovered he was having another heart attack and was whisked back to emergency surgery to have 5 stents placed. He was alert and talking with family after the procedure. Doctors at St. Mary’s discovered that Rob was also suffering from undiagnosed diabetes, high blood pressure & high cholesterol. These conditions and the stress placed on his body from the heart attacks became too much and Rob’s condition rapidly declined. He had to be intubated and placed on life support. This required Rob to be transferred to University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington where they have a specialized team for ECMO adult patients. Currently Rob remains on life support at UK. Rob’s medical team at UK is taking each step carefully. They are doing all they can to help his heart and body to strengthen for the next step which most likely will be open heart surgery. Rob has been surrounded by his children Tyler, Zach and Miranda along with their Mother Sue during this time. The purpose of this fund raising campaign is to provide support to the Pate Family for expenses related to out of town travel, meals & lodging, lost wages as Rob is self employed, Rob’s monthly bills both personal & business related and of course the overwhelming medical expenses they will be facing.
