On Thursday, June 13th, 2019 at 11:29 in the morning I received the news that would change my world forever.  My family and I received a text message from my younger sister Tara that she had just been diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma, an aggressive type of cancer.  She had begun feeling internal itching and started experiencing a yellowing of the skin, which brought her to her doctor’s office and to this diagnosis.

Tara is an amazing mother, partner, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend.  She is a mother of 3 children - Natalie age 22, Alex age 8 and Rylee age 6.  Tara and her partner Ryan have had to move in with our mom so our family can work as a team to help take care of Tara and to try to keep things as normal as possible for her young children.   Tara began chemotherapy at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital almost immediately and as many of those who’s lives have also been affected by cancer know, it has been hell.  The goal of the extremely aggressive chemo treatments is to shrink the mass on the pancreas enough to be able to perform surgery and remove it, which we are so very hopeful will be possible at some point.

Although she will always put a smile on her face and muscle through each day and the long, grueling treatments with very few complaints, Tara is in constant pain and is unable to work.  I am starting this gofundme fundraiser to help with medical bills, general medical expenses and to help with the cost of living on behalf of her partner Ryan and their children that they are missing from her inability to work.  All money raised will go directly to Tara, Ryan and the children to help sustain them during this hard, hard time.

Tara is a fighter and continues to be so brave through everything that’s been thrown her way, but as her sister and friend I know that the growing financial burden she feels is adding so much stress and worry to her already exhausting reality.  I am hoping through this post we are able to raise enough money to help lessen the financial weight she is feeling.  Any donations, in any dollar amount, will help reduce Tara’s worries and help provide her some comfort.  For this I will be forever grateful.  And please - if anyone reading this ever experiences internal itching and yellowing of the skin, please see a doctor immediately!  Like with many cancers, early detection is so important and can be crucial in determining treatment options.

Thank you all for reading this and I hope you consider making a donation.
