A FUND FOR LIFE AND HEALING
This fund is for the benefit of Patricia Oliva (Trisha) who has spent a lifetime battling debilitating depression. A recent episode triggered by a reaction to an autoimmune medication was sudden and severe - ruining her financially and crippling her family relationships. Despite dozens of treatments, the depression persists; she lives with unrelenting despair and constant thoughts of suicide.
To date, she's been prescribed 28 different medications, has been hospitalized 3 times and has undergone Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) treatments - all to no avail. Sadly, the ECT treatments, thought to be the "gold standard" in treating Major Depressive Disorder, were minimally effective. Now under the care of a well-respected Dallas psychiatrist, Trisha has been referred for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy. TMS might be her last hope of overcoming this life-threatening disease. TMS is the first non-systemic and non-invasive depression treatment cleared by the FDA for the treatment of patients with Major Depressive Disorder who have not benefited from prior antidepressant treatment. The success rate of TMS ranges between 75% and 85% (as opposed to 30% - 40% with medication) - with results being even better in patients who have recently undergone ECT.
Thanks to the many loop-holes in ObamaCare, Trisha's health insurance was cancelled during her last hospitalization, without any notification, whatsoever, and she is not eligible for Medicaid or Medicare. The TMS treatments are expensive and now........out of her reach! We're afraid that, without these treatments, we may lose the life of a kind, generous, thoughtful, and loving friend, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt who has such an amazing heart of gold.
