ETHAN'S ROAD TO RECOVERY

We never imagined that Demetrius and Melissa would have to decide to intubate Ethan. Yet on Christmas Eve 2022, it was a decision that saved his life. December brought a “Perfect Storm” of illnesses to him and not only did he need oxygen to survive, he still needs a miracle.

This fundraiser is for an amazing, vibrant 6-year-old active kid who has been battling bacterial pneumonia, RSV, Adenovirus and Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM). Due to the severity of these illnesses, he has been hospitalized now for a month and although the viruses have subsided, the recommended treatment for the ADEM is inpatient pediatric neuro-rehabilitation at a hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Ethan currently has inflamed lesions on his spinal cord and brain and is experiencing paralysis of his lower extremities. Time is of the essence in this very intense rehabilitation process so his mom Melissa, and Ethan will be medically transported to San Antonio in the middle of January. There is no indicated timeline for their return home.

All funds will help to support in caring for sweet Ethan while they are away. The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio is a highly specialized pediatric hospital to which, will exceed anticipated costs for the family. Funds will help to serve in the care during their stay and for the long-term help Ethan will definitely need.
