Joshua's Motorcycle Accident
UPDATE 8/5/2020: It's come to my attention that the contact button isn't working through this website. While I wait for support, I just want to add my information here. If anyone has any questions or concerns related to my brothers accident you can contact me here at [email redacted], or at [phone redacted]. Thanks again everyone for the support!
My brother Joshua was in a terrible motorcycle accident last night... April 8th, 2020. We believe he dozed off at the wheel, he works 5am at the local Aldi's and was out with a friend later than usual, but there was no alcohol in his blood, no other cars, and no sign of him trying to slow down. He drove straight through a T intersection on highway C to 125 in Fairgrove. It's a miracle he crashed where he did, a neighbor heard what happened and called it in saving his life. He was flight lifted to Mercy hospital where is now in critical, but stable condition...
His injuries are severe to say the least. He broke his neck in two places (but arteries are in tact so he should recover without paralyzation), cracked his helmet and has a severe concussion, and on his right side he broke multiple ribs, bruised his lung, destroyed his elbow, broke his pelvis in multiple places, and shattered his femur and shin along with large open wounds and missing muscle tissue. The doctors are working now to try to save his leg from the knee down. To top this off he is now fighting a fever we can only hope isn't coming from COVID-19.
My brother is a warrior. He's in the best physical shape of his life. 23 years old, over 6ft tall, and a built 180lbs. He runs every morning, eats right, and overall has taken great care of himself since high school. After graduating, he joined The National Guard where is still actively serving, goes to college for Gen Ed's, and works a full time job at Aldi's trying to save money for graduate school to become a Veterinarian. He's always loved animals, ever since we were kids... He's a big man with an even bigger heart, and he doesn't deserve this...
I'm starting this fundraiser to help with the obvious medical bills that come along with all of this... Multiple surgeries, weeks in ICU, the emergency flight, CT scans, meds, and the oncoming therapy that he will need to make a full recovery. Not to mention his bills for everyday life, who knows how long until he can return to work...
But I'm also doing this for a selfish reason. My younger brother helped me buy a house just a few months ago. He helped me finance it, and co-signed. He was there for me when I needed it. Now, with the mass shutdowns effecting me and so many others I know, this is all I can hope to do to help him... To be there for him like he was for me.
Please, anything you can spare goes directly to fund my brother's recovery and relief during these increasingly difficult times. He has always been there for his family and his community. It's time that we come together for him. Thank you.
