As many of you know I was read-ended in a car accident in April of 2016. Nearly three years later and after surgery and many spine procedures, I have been left with the diagnosis of being permanently disabled. According to my neurosurgeon at Jefferson, the damage in my thoracic spine needs a few different surgical repairs including rods, screws, and a fusion of 4 discs, which would be too risky to surgically repair at this time. Many of you know I received a fusion in my lumbar, but there is still a fracture on the L5 vertebrae that they chose not to fuse when they did the original surgery. As a result, the risk to go back in could have major complications and would ensure that I would have 3 spine fusions within 10 years so they don’t want to repair it at this time. As of now, I am inpatient at a physical therapy rehab facility with a catheter and trying to relearn how to walk. The hope is that in 3-6 months they are thinking I’ll be able to walk very minimal distance with a walker around the house, and need a motorized wheelchair for when any real walking distance is involved. This leads me to this go fund me. As a result of my condition, my family needs to raise the funds to purchase a van with a power wheelchair lift, some handicap updates need to be made to our home for accessibility, and of course, the medical bills are piling up. Unfortunately, being disabled, we are on a very limited income and are unable to come up with the funds necessary to purchase these necessary items on our own. We have been given quotes of 30k for a used van and lift, and another 5k for home renovations. Because of Victoria’s cerebral palsy, it makes these things all the more vital to not only keep us safe from injury, but it will also help her care for me. Because this was a car accident and because of my age, there are not a lot of options for assistance leaving us with the option of fundraising. We are praying that God would use this outlet as a way to help raise the necessary funds so that I can have the things I need to continue to move forward. This is extremely awkward for me to put myself and our situation out there like this, but I am swallowing my pride because we really need these things to make sure I’m not home bound. I still believe that God can and will use me despite these circumstances. Having access to these things will ensure that I can continue to serve at church and serve others around me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you're wiling to give and I ask that God would bless you in return for your generosity! I can promise you that anything given, I will pay forward! God bless you!
