70th Birthday Skydive to end period poverty
This year for my 70th birthday I'm jumping out of a plane! Because what else would you to to raise money for such an important cause?!
I'm raising money in aid of The Pachamama Project CIO, a charity providing reusable sanitary pads to refugees and vulnerable women who deal with period poverty. Period poverty is the inability to access sanitary products leading to many women around the world resorting to using socks, scraps of material, leaves or whatever they can get their hands on to manage their periods. Short-term this can lead to discomfort, shame and even infections. Long-term, period poverty leads to wider gender inequality as women and girls face barriers to education and the labour market. This is experienced by 500 million people worldwide and Pachamama plans to solve this, one reusable pad at a time.
So far, The Pachamama Project has built a network of over 2000 volunteers (including me!) and we have collectively made over 100,000 pads supporting 13,000 people out of period poverty. I, myself have made over 18,000 and I'm not stopping anytime soon!
Every donation makes a huge difference in getting the pads to the people that need them the most. As The Pachamama Project grows, the shipping and material costs grow too making every £ count. £5 will support one person out of period poverty for the next 5 years. £50 will support 10. Thank you so much in advance.
