Help Elijah and His Mom
This page was made in order to help Elijah and his mom (Sheronza) get a car to assist with Elijah’s many doctor appointments, therapies and procedures.
Elijah was born on June 18th, 2015, full of personality, smiles, and a sweetheart just like his mother. Along with that smile came a surprise that shocked his parents to the core, he was born with a rare genetic developmental disorder - Cornelia de Lange Syndrome.
(You can find out more information about his syndrome here: https://www.cdlsusa.org/what-is-cdls/)
Elijah has feeding and swallowing difficulties. He's had a g-tube/g-button since he was 5 days old and he's only able to swallow pureed foods or fluids thickened to honey-consistency; he has moderate gastro-esophageal reflux and eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). He has a functioning/ongoing heart murmur and bicuspid aortic (two leaflets vs. three). He has a contracted arm with one digit/finger and his other arm is full-length and his hand has 4 fingers, but only 3 are functioning. He's had several problems with his genital, urinary and kidney system which has already resulted in three surgeries and multiple hospital stays. He's had hearing loss in the past, in which he has worn hearing aids. Though his hearing has improved, he's not completely out of the "woodworks;" he still has problems with his ears. He's not talking right now, but he's in speech therapy and makes a lot of sounds and tries to say a few simple words. He has a wheelchair to help transport him and a gait trainer to help him to walk. Though he is almost 4, he's fairly small for his age, because of his syndrome (he wears size 18 months in clothes and weighs 19-20 lbs). He is developmentally delayed but he's a smart little boy and full of life! In his short life, he's already had over 10 surgeries and unfortunately another one is scheduled this month to repair/cut his stoma/stomach lining. He's small, but strong and mighty and loved by many!
Sheronza is an amazing, loving, selfless, single mother who is dedicated to the care of her son, Elijah. Since Elijah’s been born, she hasn’t been able to return to work due to his frequent (and many times unplanned) appointments, hospital stays and therapies. Because of the specialized level of care Elijah requires, Sharonza is with him full time.
They do not have a car which makes getting to and from these appointments very hard.
Her SUV was totaled in an accident last year and they currently reside in an area that doesn’t have public transportation. Any donation made will go towards help getting a car (cash) and insurance.
Your help and your prayers are appreciated more than you know. Thank you.
Isaiah 41:10
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
