Echo's Veterinary Expenses

Our Story

I'm a 25 year old horse owner who has gone back to college a little bit later in life. I have been riding horses since I was 7 and have owned a horse since I was 12. Horses are my life and all I know. My horse, Woven Web (aka Echo) is a 6 year old Thoroughbred who I have owned since she was 4. I started a blog when I first got her, you can read more of our adventure at Woven Web Diaries. Echo hurt herself on 2/19/14. She tore her hoof while running in her small field. The hoof tore deep through the hoof wall and through the lamina.

By contributing you will allow Echo to continue getting care from the best vets this country has to offer. Without help I can't ensure her recovery and make sure she gets her shot to prove her ability as a show horse. She was suppose to make her show debut in the June Thoroughbred Association Show at Kentucky Horse Park.

Pictures of Injury:
Warning that some may find the photos too graphic. I have tried to select the cleanest photos. Here is the first photo taken by my vet. Next this is when the podiatrist came to examine her and shows the extent of the damage. This is the piece that was cut and removed. Finally, here is Echo's leg all wrapped up by the podiatrist after a shoe was placed on the hoof.

My goal is to raise $500 toward her expenses. This is just a fraction of what her total bill will be. However, as a full time student I cannot loose my focus on school to pick up a second job to cover it at 100%. 100% of the money raised will go towards Echo's care. Either to vet bills, farrier or vet supplies to properly care for the hoof. No amount is to small. One roll of vet wrap is $1.30 and this minor expense is huge in the total cost of her care. For the coming months I will be in need of endless supplies from vet wrap to iodine scrub to disinfect the area.
