Help Monèt and Family through Lupus battle

Hello, everyone. My name is Monèt Washington, and I’m reaching out during one of the most challenging times of my life. My family and I are facing an intense health journey that has affected us in ways I never imagined. With a complex diagnosis and ongoing symptoms from systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), I’ve been in and out of the hospital, often confined to a wheelchair, with limited mobility and speech due to flare-ups and other complications.

Currently, I’m undergoing a full work-up with scheduled procedures next week to better understand the severity of my condition. Unfortunately, this has placed a huge strain on our family. My husband, Malik, has stepped into every role imaginable provider, caregiver, nurturer, and more. He’s been my rock, but he is shouldering this alone, all while being the primary support for our seven children.

One of our most immediate needs is help with gas expenses. Malik makes the daily commute from Lacey to Tacoma, and he travels to Seattle to see me at Harborview Medical Center whenever possible. It’s incredibly challenging for me emotionally because Harborview only allows visitors over the age of 12, which means I can’t see my younger children. As a mother, not being able to hold or see my kids during this time is heartbreaking.

We’re humbly asking for help. Your support will go directly toward:

•Gas Expenses: Assisting with the costs of Malik’s commutes so he can be with me while also ensuring our children have the stability they need at home.

•Medical Expenses: Covering the high costs of tests, procedures, medications, and ongoing treatments.

•Daily Needs and Childcare: Ensuring our kids have stability and care when Malik needs to be with me for procedures.
