❤️ Let me explain…
Millie-Rae Vardy became a recognised European MMA fighter in the summer of 2022, at the time she had set up a go fund me page to try and raise enough money to be able to fund her trip to Italy, to fight in this prestigious amateur event, having been accepted in to the England team by the EMMAA, and amazingly, she returned to Sutton-in-Ashfield Nottinghamshire with a gold medal. A fantastic achievement beyond words, but let me tell you the origins of her journey...
In 2020/21 Millie had lost her way in life, she had ballooned to 18½ stone, She had reached absolute rock bottom. She had reached desperation.
These depths of despair, saw her voluntarily joining a gym in the hope of regaining some kind of sanity and self esteem. The gym she joined just so happened to be a mixed martial arts type gym and she soon found herself transitioning from keep fit and weight loss sessions, to keep fit and basic martial arts sessions, well then she became the real Millie and dedicated her time to becoming an MMA fighter, and trained tirelessly to achieve this goal, and was soon after selected to represent team England in the European championships. This move probably saved her life. Millie had gone from 18½ stone down to her fighting weight of 70kg (11 stone)
Fast forward to just this week, and Millie has just secured her place with team England again and has been invited to represent her country once again at the world championships in Uzbekistan in November... Not bad for a young girl almost completely lost. These trips are self funded and flights, fees & accommodation and fight camps need to be covered
The good people of Nottingham dug deep in their pockets to raise funds to send her to Italy 2 years ago where she was rewarded with a gold medal (an unbelievable achievement) and we are asking for your kindness once again, to send her to Uzbekistan so she may, once again, represent her country and hopefully bring back the gold medal.
Millie has now dedicated her life to teaching youngsters all that she has learnt in the field of martial arts, in the hope of keeping these youngsters off the streets and hopefully give them the opportunity to realise their dreams of becoming a gold medalist. She also PTs for adults and children that have or had the same struggles Millie once did
Millie would not thank me if she knew I was writing this, but I just want her to receive some kind of recognition for her sheer determination, and the hard work and sacrifice she as made to achieve the impossible and to get her out there and to continue on this journey that she is on ❤️
- Anything that you can give will help us get Millie out there to fight for England ❤️
